PATTERN STAINING (USUALLY CEILINGS) REMEDY
Description
Dark areas striped with lighter-coloured bands across them.
Cause
• Rising heat deposits dirt on ceiling surfaces. More heat passes between wooden laths and therefore leaves more dirt at those areas. The laths act as insulation.
Remedy
Scrub off and rinse as much dirt deposit as possible. When the surface is thoroughly dry, apply a stain-block primer. It is possible to get water-based primers, as it would be expensive to use stain-block aerosols over large ceiling areas.
